The blacksmithing courses listed below are starting points for students, and as such they are open ended so the skills learned can be continuously built upon. The projects listed for each class are typical for most students taking these classes, but they are not necessarily the only ones. Since the goal is to gain a series of specific blacksmithing skills, we are willing to work with students to help them pick projects that not only further a particular skill but will also be of interest to the student.

Basic Blacksmithing:

- Tuition $30/hr + materials used.
- Students will learn hammer control, tapering, basic curls, shouldering, riveting, twists, hot cutting, basic metallurgy, safety, tool nomenclature, simple twists, and general 'white' work.
- Typical projects: J-Hook, S-Hook, drive hook, fire poker, candelabra, tremmel hook, hook plate, crampons, flesh fork, tongs, chisel, & prick punch.

Intermediate Blacksmithing:

- Tuition $30/hr + materials used.
- Students will learn, fine hammer control, scrolling, collaring, mortis-tennon joinery, forge brazing, fine 'white' work, basic tool making, additional twist styles, practical application of metallurgy, forge welding,
- Typical projects: fireplace tools, froe, draw knife, standing or hanging chandelier, specialty tongs, anvil tools, simple jigs

Blacksmith Shop Time:

- $15/hr + materials used.
- Students may come and use the shop to continue work on their projects or practice techniques without direct instruction. Instructor will be present for safety reasons but may be engaged in projects of his/her own.
